largest museum of TCM and biggest Chinese Medicine Botanical Garden
Established in 1958, Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TUTCM) is one of the earliest universities of TCM in China and the only one International Institute of TCM which is approved by State Board of Education (now Ministry of Education) in 1992. Tianjin University of TCM is also the “Educational Aid Center” authorized by Ministry of Education (MOE), TCM International Cooperation Center by State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM) and “China-ASEAN Educational Training Center”. Furthermore, Tianjin University of TCM is a Director Member of the Unit of Steering Committee of TCM, Medical Humanistic Quality Education and Education of the World Federation of TCM.
The University has a distinguished teaching faculty with more than 3,600 staff. Among them, there are 3 Academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, more than 900 senior professional teachers, 120 doctoral tutors and 890 master tutors. Over the years, TUTCM has been adhering to its motto “Strengthening Moral Education and Pursuing Academic Studies, Inheriting and Innovating”. The 3 Academicians Zhang Boli, Shi Xuemin and Liu Changxiao are the representatives of a large number of outstanding talents in TCM who have made a significant contribution to the course of public health and internationalization of TCM.
The University has carried out extensive foreign exchanges and cooperation with 77 universities, hospitals and research institutions from 56 countries and regions. There are more than 2,000 foreign students from Korea, Japan, USA, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan and some other 60 countries in 2015. Among them, there are more than 1,200 degree students. The international TCM talents training system has been formed in which the bachelor education is the main part. The system also covers master and doctoral education and short and long term programs.
The new campus of TUTCM is under construction which is located around Tuanbo Lake in Jinghai District, Tianjin, which is expected to home the whole school in September, 2016. The new campus covers an area of more than 173 hectares and the building area is about 600,000 square meters. The building will become the nationally largest museum of TCM, Chinese Medicine Botanical Garden, the nationally most advanced Medicine and Medical Science and Technology Park and International Education Center of TCM. Besides, the University will provide a more excellent study and living environment for the students.
